Commissioner James Campbell

James Campbell’s most recent service to the Port Commission began when he was elected in 2013. He previously served on the Port Commission from 1965-1977. James came to Astoria by way of the United States Navy and has been a resident for over 65 years. Originally from the land-locked state of Oklahoma, he has established himself as a marine contractor, with construction projects from the Bering Sea up-and-down the Pacific Coast, and as far as the Gulf of Mexico. In business since 1980, his work has also expanded into jetty construction and harbor construction.

In his spare time, Commissioner Campbell enjoys flying his plane, fishing, and hunting. When asked what he loves about this town, he replied: “I like the climate, the water, the trees, the people… and everything that goes with it.”
